1. How do you register redmap products?
Go to http://www.redmap.com/support/registration.htm
2. How do I move indexed documents between groups?
You will have to export the existing documents to Circulate then import them back into the desired group using the import tool within the ManageEzy/ManagePoint Administration tool.
3. Can MSDE (Microsoft Database Engine) be installed on a ManageEzy/ManagePoint server running either Windows 98/ME?
Yes, however it is recommended that the server be running either WinNT 4.0 or Windows 2000 if and when you are installing MSDE to back end Manage libraries. This is more so the case if the Manage library will be accessed by more than one Manage client.
The Windows 98/ME operating system lacks the multi-processing capabilities of WinNT 4.0 and Windows 2000, which may result in database connectivity problems from the client PCs. There should be no problems however with Windows 98/ME client PCs accessing libraries upsized to MSDE on a server running Windows NT4.0 or Windows 2000.
4. Are there limits on the number of files a ManageEzy/ManagePoint library can store?
Any limit will be determined by the operating system of the server and the database back end. Servers running FAT32 (Windows 95/95/ME and depending on the hard drive partition configuration, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000) will have a limit of around 8,000 files per folder. To get around this obstacle, ensure that the hard drive partition hosting Manage has been set as NTFS, if the operating system of the server is running either Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000. You can still get around the limit if running on a FAT32 Partition by creating a new write path for the library each time the 8,000 limit is reached. To create a new write path:
- Run Windows Explorer and create a new folder within the Manage library folder, e.g. if the library is called Administration and Manage has been installed at i:\Manage then create a folder "document1" within I:\Manage \Administration NOTE: If you have upgraded from doctrieveDesktop 3.4 to ManageEzy/ManagePoint, the library folder may be located elsewhere within the doctrieveDesktop folder i.e. I:\dt2000 or I:\desktop
- Run and login into the Manage Administration.
- Select the library and click the Paths tab.
- Right-click the Write Path and select Edit
- Browse for the newly created document path. Then right click and add a new document path pointing to the original document folder.
5. What data should I backup?
The Manage data that must be backed up:
- The Library folder (which includes the config, q, ole and document folders)
- The Sessions folder (including sessions.log and sessions.error)
To back up these folders, copy them from the Manage installation directory (ie. \\servername\Manage).
The Jet4 database can also be backed up.
To find out what database you are using (ie., Jet database):
- Open the Manage Administrator
- Select a library.
- On the General tab check the name listed on the Provider button.
To back up the Jet database:
- Open the database using MS Access
- On the File menu, select Back Up Database
- Back up to the desired location.
Backing up of your MSDE/ SQL databases is beyond the scope of Redmap Support. Please see your company IT Administrator/contractor.
6. I can't seem to find the ManageEzy/ManagePoint client install on the installation CD. Where can I find the ManageEzy/ManagePoint client install?
The client install file (ManageClient.exe/Setup.exe) is unpacked during the Manage server installation, into the MFiles\Client\ folder of your Manage installation directory, e.g. if you have installed Manage to \\servername\Manage then the client install is located in \\servername\Manage \MFiles\Client\.
7. Is ManageEzy/ManagePoint supported on Windows 95 PCs?
No, Windows 98 is the minimum requirement for ManageEzy/ManagePoint products.
8. Where can Business Partners go to download software updates, install guides ... etc?
Refer to the Downloads page.
