1. When I email from ManageEzy/ManagePoint the wrong email program opens
ManageEzy/ManagePoint uses your computer’s default mail program, which you can specify in your Internet Explorer settings.
Open Internet Explorer and select Tools | Internet Options, then the Programs Tab, and change the setting for you email program.
2. How do you set up the Redmap Printer
Windows 98
- In your Manage installation directory, open the MFiles folder.
- In the Driver folder, double-click IPrinter.exe
You then need to add a local port for the Redmap printer:
- Click Start, Settings, Printers.
- Right-Click the Redmap printer and select Properties.
- You may receive a popup message “Device settings cannot be displayed. The driver for the specified printer is not installed. Only spooler properties will be displayed. Do you want to install the driver now?” Click No.
- Click the Details Tab.
- Click Add Port.
- Select Other, and then select Local Port.
- Type the name you want to give to the port.
- Click OK.
The “Print to the following port” section should now point to the new port you created.
Windows ME
- Click Start, Settings, Control Panel.
- Double-click Printers.
- Click Add Printer.
- Select Local Printer.
- Click Have Disk.
- Click Browse.
- Browse to MFiles\Driver\win9x\ in your Manage installation directory, and select the oemsetup.inf file.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
If you want to use the Redmap printer as your default printer, select Yes, otherwise select No.
When asked if you want to print a test page, select Yes. This sends a test page to the input queue.
The Redmap Printer should now be displayed in the Printers window.
You then need to add a local port for the printer:
- If the Printers window is not already open, click Start, Settings, Printers.
- Right-click the Redmap printer and select Properties.
- If you receive the following message, “Device settings cannot be displayed. The driver for the specified printer is not installed. Only spooler properties will be displayed. Do you want to install the driver now?”, click No.
- Click the Details tab.
- Click Add Port.
- Select Other, and then select Local Port.
- Type the name you want to give to this port.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP
- Click Start, Settings, Printers.
- Double-click Add Printer.
- Select Local Printer.
- Ensure Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer is not selected.
- Click Next.
- Select Create New Port.
- From the Port Type list, select Local Port.
- Click Next.
- Type a name for the port and click OK.
- Click Have Disk.
- Click Browse.
- Browse to MFiles\Driver\2000 or MFiles\Driver\WinXP, depending on your operating system, in your Manage installation directory, and select the oemsetup.inf file.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- If you want to use the Redmap Printer Driver as your default printer, select Yes, otherwise select No.
- Select Do not share this printer. (The Redmap Printer will only work as a standalone printer on each workstation. Setting the printer as a network printer will not produce any results.)
- Click Next.
- When asked to print a test page, select Yes. This sends a test page to the input queue.
- When prompted that the driver is not digitally signed, click Continue Anyway.
- Click Finish.
Redmap Printer should now be displayed in the Printers window.
Windows NT/Terminal Server/Citrix
- Click Start, Settings, Printers.
- Double-click Add Printer.
- Select My Computer.
- Click Next.
- Select Add Port.
- For the Port Type, select Local Port.
- Click New Port.
- Type a name for the port and click OK.
- Click Close.
- Click Next.
- Click Have Disk.
- Click Browse.
- Browse to MFiles\Driver\WinNT in your Manage installation directory, and select the oemsetup.inf file.
- Click OK.
- Click Next.
- Click Next to accept the printer name.
- Select Not Shared. (The Redmap Printer will only work as a standalone printer on each workstation. Setting the printer as a network printer will not produce any results.)
- Click Next.
- When asked to print a test page, select Yes. This sends a test page to the input queue.
Redmap Printer should now be displayed in the Printers window.
Configuring the Redmap Printer Settings:
- On your Windows Control Panel, double-click Printers.
- Right-click the Redmap Printer and select Properties.
- You will receive a message saying that the printer is not installed, and asking if you want to install it. This is normal. Select No.
- In properties window, select the Advanced tab.
- Ensure that Enable advanced printing features is not selected.
- Click OK.
3. When I print out of ManageEzy/ManagePoint the page comes out black.
This is usually a symptom of Windows not being able to print a tif file (the format of files in Manage). There are several things you can try:
- Install a postscript driver for your printer if one is available.
- Contact the manufacturer of your scanner for an alternative generic driver.
4. When my client prints out the files I email them from ManageEzy/ManagePoint, they are the wrong size.
This is due to the fact that windows Imaging (the default tif viewer on most systems) has “Actual size” specified as the default. When printing, select File, Print, Advanced/Settings, then Fit to Page. Your printed image should be the right size.
5. I click the print button and nothing happens, the print dialog is not displayed.
- Check the port you have the printer on, it needs to be a local port and not LPT1.
- Check that the Redmap printer is configured properly, ie. drivers installed. See question 1 in this Section for further details.
