Unfortunately, electronic documents are not always intuitive to file. Electronic documents, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDFs, are typically held in disparate file systems on network drives, local hard-drives and backup media such as CD, DVD or removable memory. There are often duplicate files on various drives, which leads to issues of version control and wasted storage space.
Typical document management systems are over-engineered for the average user and are prohibitively expensive. Redmap's Document Storage Device (DSD) is highly cost effective and extremely simple to use.
Once archived, a document can be found via meta data (e.g. document type, creation date, author name, etc.) or with keyword content search you can find a document regardless of how it was filed.
A document can be 'checked out' to ensure only one user can edit it. When the document is 'checked back in' the version control system ensures a full audit trail is maintained.
